    Design Competition for the 90th Anniversary Celebration Slogan and Logo

    To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Academia Sinica held a design competition for the most representative slogan and logo. The winning slogan submission not only pays tribute the anniversary celebrations but also showcases the essence of research—a perennial pursuit of the truth with a firm, steady, and resolute attitude. The winning logo design fuses the concept of globalization with elements from the three key research areas that make up Academia Sinica—mathematics and physical sciences, life sciences, and the humanities and social sciences. At the same time, it also simultaneously upholds the research philosophy of Academia Sinica: to achieve sustainable development and create a better future for humanity.

    Island-wide Popular Science Lecture Series in Tainan

    Organized by Academia Sinica, the Island-wide Popular Science Lecture Series will be held in cities across Taiwan to bring research closer to the people. The Tainan lecture will be held at the National Museum of Taiwan Literature on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Besides featuring distinguished speakers, an Augmented Reality (AR) experience zone will be set up at the event for the public to experience for themselves, first hand, what it’s like to be a researcher at Academia Sinica and to better understand different fields of research. This special lecture series offers a unique opportunity for residents residing outside of Taipei to learn more about the goals and research achievements of Academia Sinica.

    K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Lectureship

    In order to honor Dr. Wang and carry over the mission to nourish the Bioorganic Chemistry Research in Taiwan, a group of the Taiwanese scientists including Dr. Y.T. Lee and Dr. C.H. Wong organized and helped the founding of “K-T Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Educational Foundation” in October 2000. The K-T Wang foundation enables more students and young scholars to have the opportunity to meet with world-renowned scientists face-to-face. Once a year the foundation awards a world-famous scholar to give talks on his/her research experiences. The purpose is to inspire the youth in this field and thus speed up the progress of Bioorganic Chemistry research in Taiwan.

    Hu Shih Memorial Hall ─ Opening Ceremony for Special Exhibition on Hu Shih & Book Launch for The Complete Works of Hu Shih

       2018 marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Academia Sinica. Next year, the year 2019, also coincides with the centennial of the May Fourth Movement. In commemoration of these meaningful events, Hu Shih Memorial Hall, in conjunction with the festivities organized by the Academia Sinica and the Institute of Modern History, will hold a special opening ceremony for an upcoming exhibition on Hu Shih.
