The nature of academic writing renders the topics addressed by the studies not accessible to the public, making it difficult for the everyday person like you and me to share in the joy and meaning behind doing research, to truly understand these new discoveries, and to actually take advantage of these novel findings and their underpinning theories.

In 2017, Academia Sinica launched "Research for You" this website serves as a popular science platform, a place where groundbreaking research is available right at your fingertips in readable form and where the newest trailblazing discoveries are introduced as a fun and engaging read. We hope this platform can serve as a bridge between Academia Sinica and the general public as well as a door by which readers find their way into the broad and profound world of research.

The Alumni Association of Academia Sinica was established in February 2011. Its mission is to foster a spirit of cohesion, to strengthen ties between alumni and Academia Sinica, and to offer fellow alumni access to resources available within the Academy. Alumni are welcome to attend arts and cultural events as well as special lectures including the popular science Knowledge Feast Lecture series. Members also have access to libraries, health check-up benefits, and the gymnasium facilities (including the swimming pool, weight room, track, classes, and game courts).

Celebrating its 90 th anniversary, Academia Sinica launched a special website to remember and reflect upon its history entitled “Towards Excellence—Looking back on the History of Academia Sinica.” This special site recounts the different milestones of Academia Sinica through six major topics, including its founding and relocation to Taiwan, construction of the Nangang campus, former presidents, Convocation of Academicians, special memories and stories, and a timeline of events. These major themes provide different perspectives that showcase the path to excellence taken by Academia Sinica from its founding up to the present time.

Academia Sinica is the highest-level research institution in Taiwan as well as an internationally-renowned scholarly organization. Academia Sinica has three major responsibilities: to enhance research capacities in the humanities and sciences; to conduct, promote, and facilitate scholarly research efforts; and to cultivate outstanding academic talent. In order to share the highlights of this year’s research with both the scholarly community and the general public, we have put together a special publication Significant Research Achievements of Academia Sinica, which includes summaries of outstanding scholarship in various areas, as well as abstracts of important articles and books published by our scholars.
